2026 UWFaith Annual Day

Updated: Feb 4

The Board of United Women in Faith at FUMC was pleased to host the 2026 Annual Day on January 31 in the Consulate and Wesley Abbey.

The morning began with a brunch reception so members of different Circles could mingle and enjoy time getting to know one another.

Our meeting then began with a Welcome from our outgoing President, Pat Franklin. Peggy Groves introduced our speaker, Lea Farrington, whose presentation on her time in South Sudan and East Africa was inspiring to everyone. As members of United Women in Faith, we are called to a global perspective, especially in service to women and children and her story served as a reminder to us all of this important work.

Following Lea's presentation, Sara Hunt, our Reading Program chair, presented certificates to those who completed the Reading Program in 2025. Martha Moulton completed Plan II, which includes reading 2 books from all 5 categories - Education for Missions, Leadership Development, Nurturing for Community, Social Action, and Spiritual Growth. The rest of this year's recipients, Jane Roberts, Sara Hunt, and Sue Glenn, completed Plan I, which includes 1 book from each of those categories.

Our Panhandle District President, Kathy McQuage, joined us to install our 2026 Board Officers. She gave out lovely HOPE hangers to encourage our board to hold on to hope. You can go to our Meet the Board page of the website to see this year's board members.

Our meeting concluded with Communion with Pastor Heather and a closing from our incoming President, Pamela Brown. Lea also provided door prizes from an organization in East Africa. If you're interested in learning more about where those came from, it is an organization called Amani ya Juu. "Our name, Amani ya Juu, is a Swahili saying which means 'Peace from Above.' We are a social economic enterprise committed to peace and reconciliation for women from many African nations and cultures."

We are looking forward to a fantastic year and we are so glad for all who came out to envision that with us. If you aren't part of a Circle, please check out our Circles page and find one that interests you. Our second event that brings all our Circles together will be our Luncheon toward the end of summer. Be on the lookout for that date to be announced soon.
